Objects from Seoul
All the beautiful things that made their way into my home, wardrobe and jewellery box.
Coming home and unpacking all these special objects on my table made me want to share the details - Just in case it inspires you or you’re planning a trip to the city soon; but also, as a small gratitude exercise - a way of realising how many things I allowed myself to bring back, commit to cherishing and taking care of each of them.
Object n. 01, 02, 03 —
Bold glass cups (linked here). The ceramic cups and wooden plates were purchased in a small tea room in Eunpyeong called Myeong-Geumtang.
Object n. 04, 05 —
A stunning pouch that reminds me of the Sophie Buhai ones, but slightly thinner and longer - perfect for sunglasses or other small objects. I also love it in black.
A round hairpin in ivory that reminds me to the 90s.
Object n. 06, 07, 08 —
A silky sketchbook and one of the paintbrushes were found in a small shop while browsing Insadong Culture Street. Unfortunately, I didn’t save the name, but it was around door number 55.
I picked up the other paintbrush on a different morning at the Seoul Folk Flea Market.
Object n. 09 —
A beautiful bookmark with onyx, from a local brand I’ve been following for a long time: Earee.
Object n. 10, 11 —
A tasseled hair comb that I wore to decorate my hair during my art exhibition, purchased from one of my favourite shops: Parsnips.
And a beautiful shell coin pouch in black leather, crafted by Carlos Peñafiel. I’ve followed his work for Lemaire for a long time, but this piece is part of a collection for the local brand Urbanic 30. I couldn’t find the leather goods on their website, but I highly recommend stopping by if you have the chance - the shop is beautiful.
Object n. 12, 13 —
A pair of silk pleated bags that came as a set. I’m a big fan of Pleats Please, and this felt like a very affordable alternative. Found in one of the NyuNyu shops we visited - we honestly had so much fun there.
For anyone who hasn’t been, it’s a bit like a massive Brandy Melville, but each location has its own mood and selection. We especially loved the one in Seongsu-dong.
Object n. 14, 15 —
A small leather pouch and a beaded keychain, also from NyuNyu.
Object n. 16–22 —
I came back with quite a few necklaces. The first five are from the same beaded collection as the keychain. You can find the final beaded necklace, in onyx, here.
Object n. 23, 24 —
An incense holder, a matching ceramic plate and some delicious incense.
Object n. 25, 26, 27, 28 —
A silver ring and silver necklace, also from Earee.
A small red ring found on the same artsy street as objects 06, 07 and 08 - there are so many little street shops selling these rings, hair combs, wooden tools and gua sha.
And the brush necklace, another NyuNyu find, which reminds me of this one from Lemaire and this other one from Sherilyn, which already lives in my jewellery box.
Object n. 29, 30 —
I love buying matching toothbrushes for Felix and me. I brought some back from Japan in June, and this time these were the chosen ones - from Parsnips, also available at Olive Young. I also picked up this toothpaste and really loved it.
Object n. 31, 32 —
The rice milk, because I love Beauty of Joseon, especially their SPF.
And a hand cream that smells like lilacs, for my mum - she’s always loved those flowers.
Object n. 33 —
Striped pyjama trousers from Jo’s Lounge. I loved this shop so much - going through the sample books to find the perfect print for my pyjamas was such a joy.
Object n. 34 —
A final object from BFD: a wall calendar. They gifted it to me with my purchase (incense holder, glass cups, etc., mentioned above). I love everything they do.
Object n. 35 —
A knit from Nothing Written, which has quickly become my favourite piece this winter.
I hope this little curation inspires you in some way. I’ll definitely be keeping these brands on my radar - for future gifts, for friends, and for myself! X
